4. Western Plains Cultural Centre

Western Plains Cultural Centre, a state-of-the-art facility boasting a gallery, museum and modern cafe, is Dubbo’s creative soul. Uncover the City’s history and view Australia’s largest and best preserved wool wagon. A carved tree, an object of great cultural significance to the local Aboriginal people and rarely seen by outsiders, is also on display.

5. Burrendong Botanic Garden and Arboretum

If you want to get lost in the beauty of nature, stop in at the Burrendong Botanic Garden and Arboretum, which houses one of the largest collections of Australian plants in cultivation. Pack your pushbike, a picnic hamper, bird watching binoculars and your very best walking shoes to experience nature at its best.

6. Dubbo Regional Adventure Playground and Dubbo Regional Botanic Garden

7. Mount Arthur Reserve

Situated just outside the township of Wellington, the Mount Arthur Reserve is a Crown Reserve set aside for Public Recreation and Environmental Protection. The Reserve is a special place, recognised on the Register of the National Estate for its natural values. It is perfect for a day out bushwalking, picnicking, enjoying the great outdoors and taking in the best views of the surrounding valley.

8. Dubbo Observatory

Become an astronomer for a night and explore the universe at Dubbo Observatory. Join one of the night sky tours to view the stars, planets and galaxies through 6 telescopes. Bring your DSLR camera to capture a spectacular photo through the telescope! An informative astronomy presentation leads outside to the viewing platform under the Milky Way.

Focusing on Wiradjuri culture in the beautiful Central West of New South Wales. Senior Wiradjuri Elder Peter Peckham offers a unique experience in traditional Aboriginal Australia. Walk where our ancestors walked hundreds of year ago including many local significant sites.

10. Toyama Osawano Japanese Garden

The Wellington Osawano Japanese Garden was established in 1999 with 1,500 individual plant specimens being planted including 126 different species. The scenic garden is open every day and is the perfect spot to wander around or enjoy an outdoor lunch. Stop on the water pavilion and watch the impressive koi fish swim leisurely around the pond, while you rest your legs or observe the ducks.
