Taronga Western Plains Zoo will reopen on June 1st 2020 in a safe and responsible way. The team has made many modifications to support social distancing regulations, fully outlined on their website. The team will be monitoring daily visitor numbers to ensure safe social distancing and all guests will be required to pre-purchase tickets and register their visit online, before visiting the Zoo.

  • Additional cleaning will be undertaken, particularly around bathrooms, food service areas and hard surfaces in frequently visited areas
  • In person keeper talks will not resume, but can be accessed virtually. Tours and Encounters will not resume upon reopening
  • Cafes and dining areas will operate in-line with the NSW restrictions applicable at the time

Overnight experiences Zoofari Lodge and the Savannah Cabins will reopen on June 4th 2020. Bookings can be made online. Billabong Camp will remain closed for the time being.

What are the Zoo opening times?

The Zoo is open every day of the year 9.00am - 4.00pm (gates open 8.30am during NSW school holidays).

How far is the zoo from Dubbo’s CBD?

Five minutes’ drive, or 5km walk/bike ride.

Is there public transport to the Zoo?

Yes, there is a public bus service from Dubbo to the Zoo. You can also catch a taxi or hire a car.

How do I get around the Zoo?

With 5km of sealed road and plenty of walking trails, you can hire push bikes or electric carts, bring your own bike, walk, or drive your own car

How long does it take?

The experience can be as long or short as you like. Tickets are valid for two consecutive days. Please check the box on the ticketing purchase form to confirm you will be attending both days.

I am travelling with my pet, can we enter the premises?

Domestic pets are prohibited from entering the Zoo. Pet minding options are available in Dubbo.

If you have a Guide or Assistance Dog, please contact the Zoo in advance so that arrangements can be made prior to your visit.
