About this event

In 2003, Melbourne’s Fiona Boyes, became the first artist outside of North America to win the Memphis International Blues Challenge since the competition began in 1984. This moment was pivotal to her career and 21 years later, Fiona is the Queen of Australian blues. Adored here and in the USA where she is still the only Australian artist to be nominated for Blues Foundation Blues Music Awards, with 4 nominations.

In 2008 Fiona won a US Blues Critics Award for Best Live Blues Album, and has received 15 various music awards in Australia.

In 2005, Melbourne guitarist Jimi Hocking followed on with the Aussie success in Memphis, when he took out the prestigious event. Just 12 months before, he received Blues Musician of the Year award by the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society.

Jimi is a much loved and popular Australian Musician, gaining rock N Roll glory as guitarist in rock band The Screaming Jets, since joining in 1993.

Jimi has seamlessly ventured from the Jets to his own projects Jimi The Human, Spectre 7, Jimi Hocking Blues Machine as well as solo and collaborations.

Nearly 20 years would pass before an Australian act would again taste success in Memphis. This time it was Frank Sultana, representing The Sydney Blues Society who would take out the event in 2023.

Joining Fiona and Jimi in this special group of Australian blues artists, Franks blues career emerged in 2011 and he has since released over a dozen albums/Eps.

On his return from his success in Memphis, he took home 2023 SBS Blues Music Awards in the categories of Artists Choice, Best Songwriter, Best Traditional Blues and Artist of the Year. He followed that up this year by again winning the 2024 award for Best Songwriter.

These will be very special acoustic shows, sharing stories and showcasing their wide range of original music. Don’t miss this opportunity to see these 3 internationally recognised Australian artists together.
