About this event

Taikoz is internationally recognised as a ground breaker in contemporary taiko performance, and their latest work Lion Dogs presents the ensemble in all its varied brilliance.

Featuring Taikoz Artistic Director Ian Cleworth’s remarkable new work Lion Dogs, the program exhibits all the Taikoz trademarks – spectacular taiko drumming, dynamic movement, mesmeric rhythms and dramatic contrasts of feeling.

As a special feature, we also see dynamo performer Ryuji Hamada in a specially commissioned solo work by Yunyu for electronic taiko, movement and sound design. Yunyu's colourful and humorous When the Rain God sings, Storm Lions are born exploits Ryuji’s talents as brilliant drummer and dynamic mover – and even comedic actor!

The six virtuoso Lion Dogs performers will be sure to move you in every way – from inside your body to the depth of your emotions!
