Empowering Dubbo: Leading Edge Data Centres Pioneers Cutting-Edge Connectivity for Regional Businesses

Dubbo’s technological landscape has undergone a transformative shift with Leading Edge Data Centres (LEDC), a trailblazing company dedicated to bridging the digital divide across Regional Australia.

Since launching its state-of-the-art data centre in Dubbo in 2021, LEDC has been a game-changer, providing Central and Far West NSW businesses with unparalleled connectivity, direct cloud access, and faster internet at more affordable rates.

In just two years, the company has not only bolstered local economies but has also become a catalyst for technological advancement in the Orana Region.

The support of regional communities has seen growth in the business with six data centres now open across Regional NSW. This also means Dubbo businesses are able to house backup services nearby in cities such as Tamworth or Wagga Wagga, rather than having to travel to Sydney for retrieval.

LEDC first approached Dubbo Regional Council back in 2019 to discuss the opportunity of building a data centre in Dubbo.

Council immediately saw the value in the investment and worked to support the company to find land for the data centre as well as introducing them to businesses who required the services.

With over 100 people at the Dubbo Data Centre Opening just two short years later, there was support for the business before the doors had even opened.

Simon Walden is driving the charge to enable as many businesses as possible across the Orana Region. Walden says, “All of the Dubbo businesses who are using our data centre and network have seen an significant improvement in network speeds and uptime. The data centre's 24/7 uptime ensures that businesses no longer face internet disruptions during outages.”

And LEDC are proud to support the Dubbo Community as well.

“Local Dubbo businesses are now able to access advanced digital infrastructure in a secure facility, with better connectivity and choice of provider. The benefits for Dubbo are far-reaching as there are new jobs and local economic growth which will positively impact the entire Orana region. We are proud to be serving the Dubbo Region and look forward to further positive impact,” CEO and Founder of LEDC Chris Thorpe said.

Businesses in Dubbo and the wider region have taken up the use of the LEDC facilities with an investment into local providers which was typically outsourced to metro providers in the past.

As a result, customers have noticed significant improvement in their connectivity and have not experienced any outages since joining the service.

This shift not only enhances connectivity but also creates job opportunities, spanning sales roles, technical skills, and electrical and mechanical contracting. LEDC's commitment to the region goes beyond technological progress; it's about fostering a thriving and digitally empowered community.
