Community partnerships and the story of Wellington's local gem.
Four Cats Coffee began with a simple opportunity—a friend's offer to open a café in her new allied health space. Passionate about coffee, great food, and community, the concept quickly flourished. The name "Four Cats Coffee" is inspired by the owner's family and their four cats, cleverly stylised in the café’s logo, adding a personal touch. Four years later, another exciting opportunity arose: the chance to purchase an iconic building in Wellington, NSW, allowing Four Cats to expand into a vibrant community hub.
In a town like Wellington, Kyilie saw an opportunity to create not just a café but a destination that would draw both locals and travelers. The building’s rich history called for a thoughtful blend of modern design with the preservation of its original charm. Formerly a Catholic school kindergarten and later a beloved café, the iconic building became the perfect setting for Four Cats to collaborate with local businesses. Partnering with Alice Mary Designs, Four Cats introduced a retail space offering local foodstuffs, homewares, vintage items, and plants. On Friday and Saturday nights, the Black Cat Cocktails team brings a new dimension to the café, serving local wines, beer, and specialty cocktails, making it a true community gathering spot.
These partnerships have helped Four Cats Coffee become a unique destination for Wellington’s locals and visitors alike. With its relaxed atmosphere, great food, and friendly service, Four Cats has solidified its reputation as a place to gather, unwind, and connect. It has grown into an integral part of Wellington’s social and economic fabric—an example of how community support and friendly country hospitality can transform a small-town business into a beloved local gem.
