About this event

The All-inclusive Dementia Sing Out Choir embraces those impacted by dementia, their carers, family, friends and volunteer singers and musicians. The choir is a space where people can feel a sense of belonging and become part of our community. Singing bonds people together.

In 2022, the choir’s founder Anne Gemmell, successfully secured government grants, enabling her to create a community choir that meets weekly on Tuesdays from 11am to 12.30pm. Shortly after securing funding, Conductor, Camilla Ward and Accompanist, Sharon Simons joined Anne. Together they have created the Sing Out Choir, the first all-inclusive dementia choir west of the Blue Mountains. They have built a community with a sense of belonging, where people are able to maintain their social connections, as well as contributing to the positive effects of music.

The Sing Out Choir uses the power of notes and harmonies to connect dementia clients with their families, friends, and the community. Music medicine is not a cure, however it can help to reduce symptoms, even with advanced dementia, such as problems with judgement, planning, reasoning, speech and language.

Come along and experience the joy of the Sing Out Choir in Concert.

All ages welcome.
