New residents gathered on 27 November at Old Dubbo Gaol for the bi-annual new residents’ event hosted by the City.

At each event, Council takes the opportunity to survey new residents to help capture information on why people relocate and what was positive and negative about their move.

44% of those who responded to the survey relocated on their own (22% with family); the most popular reason for relocating was for employment opportunities (66%); followed by lifestyle (33%). 44% of respondents had also heard of the Evocities campaign.

The event was attended by a number of community/volunteer organisations who used the opportunity to promote their services and enlist new residents. One volunteer organisation now boasts 12 new members.
