Directed by John Woo (148 Minutes)

John Woo (think Windtalkers, Face/Off) directs this film adaptation of the Chinese classic Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Set in the dying days of the Han Dynasty the work covers various warlords as they try to wrest, or preserve, power for themselves. In Red Cliff, Woo condenses this sprawling and dramatic period piece into a series of breath-taking set pieces, culminating in a naval battle scene not easily forgotten.

Film goers are invited to meet at the Old Bank after the conclusion of Smokescreen for a lively discussion about the film and a free standard drink.

Smokescreen brings to life iconic and influential films from the history of cinema. In 2019, Smokescreen will be exploring a series of 10 films, each a masterpiece based on great, timeless literature. Smokescreen takes place at the Western Plains Cultural Centre in the Drama Room in the Community Arts Centre.
