In March 2012, Council adopted the Dubbo City Events Strategy – a framework and plan of action for the City to support and grow the Dubbo events industry.

The three key goals of the Strategy are:

Goal 1:

Support development and sustainability of local event industry

(Build local industry capability)

Goal 2:

Guide the development of an inclusive, vibrant, sustainable events program

( City events offering)

Goal 3:

Position Dubbo as a premier events destination

(Grow Dubbo as an event destination)


The Dubbo Event Industry Support & Development Program has been created to facilitate the goals of the Strategy by encouraging and supporting a range of events from local community events to commercially significant State, National and International events.

The vision of the Program is to:  

  • Facilitate a vibrant events culture within the Dubbo LGA, fostering and supporting those events which reinforce the unique characteristics of Dubbo
  • Encourage the growth of tourism in Dubbo and increase economic development opportunities
  • Encourage the involvement of local residents in events that facilitate positive interaction, cultural activity and strong community identity
  • Inform event organisers of regulatory responsibilities and support available from Council
  • Inform event organisers of the various levels of event support available via the Program
  • Ensure consistency of application processes for events seeking funding/in-kind support or other levels of support available
  • Ensure applications are objectively evaluated against stated criteria according to application guidelines
